About Sergio Mazzei

I am a General Surgeon working in Dubai since 4 years, with a particular interest in wound care and treatment of the non-healing wound. I focus on the use of dermal substitutes and advanced tissue engineering, with a patient-centred and team-work approach

Wound care refers to specific types of treatment for soft tissue damage or open ulcers due to post-surgical complications, burns, trauma, skin and soft tissue infections, pressure injuries and diabetic foot ulcers

Diabetic foot ulcer

diabetic foot ulcer is a frequent complication of diabetes mellitus.
Two to ten percent of diabetic people have foot ulcers.

Leg ulcers

Leg ulcers are open wounds on the legs. Some causes of leg ulcers are venous insufficiency, low arterial blood flow, and diabetes.
